Keep reading for valuable insights into the tuition fees for international students in Canada in 2023, the cost of living, and scholarship possibilities for studying in “The Great White North.”

Canadian Tuition Fees for international students in 2023

In 2023, international students studying in Canada can expect to pay tuition fees generally lower than those in countries like the United Kingdom, the USA, or Australia.

However, they can still be relatively high. The actual cost of tuition may vary from year to year and can also depend on factors such as the city or specific degree program being pursued.

For example, some of the cheapest universities in Canada can be found in Newfoundland, while Ontario tends to have the most expensive options.

1. Bachelor’s degrees

For Bachelor’s degrees specifically, it is possible to find affordable universities in Canada with tuition fees ranging from ₹70 to 95 lakhs for the entire program.

However, it is essential to note that programs such as Medicine, Engineering, and Social Science fall under the most expensive categories.

  • Bachelors in Business & Management: ₹85 – ₹95 lakhs
  • Bachelors in Computer Science & IT: ₹75 – ₹80 lakhs
  • Bachelors in Engineering & Technology: ₹85 – ₹95 lakhs
  • Bachelors in Social Sciences: ₹70 – ₹80 lakhs
  • Bachelors in Law: ₹80 – ₹90 lakhs

2. Master’s degrees

The tuition fees range from ₹20 to 80 lakhs, with the highest costs typically associated with pursuing a Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, and Law.

  • Masters in Business & Management: ₹70 – ₹80 lakhs
  • Masters in Computer Science & IT: ₹20 – ₹30 lakhs
  • Masters in Engineering & Technology: ₹30 – ₹40 lakhs
  • Masters in Law: ₹20 – ₹30 lakhs
  • Masters in Social Sciences: ₹20 – ₹30 lakhs

The tuition fee ranges for Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Canada serve the purpose of helping you determine the budget required for your studies.

Selecting the most costly programs is unnecessary, as high expenses do not always equate to better education. Similarly, choosing the cheapest university for financial convenience may not ensure satisfaction. It is recommended to strike a balance between your budget, tuition fees, and your educational goals.

Please note that Canadian college fees can be extremely high, sometimes exceeding ₹60 lakhs per year, but we have excluded them from the tuition ranges as they are infrequent.

3. Inexpensive Canadian universities

Here is a list of universities in Canada that are more affordable:

  • University of Regina: ₹1.5 – ₹8.5 lakhs
  • Memorial University of Newfoundland: ₹3.5 – ₹12.5 lakhs
  • Athabasca University: ₹11 – ₹13.5 lakhs
  • University of Saskatchewan: ₹18 – ₹44 lakhs
  • Royal Roads University: ₹20 – ₹30 lakhs

Several study programs at Canadian universities, even the most affordable, have an annual cost exceeding ₹20 lakhs.

Typically, these programs include Master’s degrees in Business, Law, Dentistry, and MBA (Master of Business Administration). Pursuing an MBA can be particularly expensive, with tuition fees exceeding ₹30 lakhs per year.

Recommended universities in Canada

  • University of Toronto
  • Thompson Rivers University
  • York University
  • University of Winnipeg
  • Humber College
